  • TASTING NOTE: “The nose is discreet and inviting, showing aromas of lemon confit, lime curd and orange blossoms. The medium-bodied palate has focused acidity and an underlying power, giving notes of grapefruit pith, sea spray and flint. Very classy with high tension that will unwind for years to come. Drink or hold. Screw cap.” 95 Points - Ryan Montgomery, James Suckling
  • ABOUT THE WINE: Showcasing an underrated and age worthy variety. The vines reside on our Home block, planted there to take advantage of the free draining soils ensuring intensity of flavour. The Semillon is planted with a North South orientation, the fruit being shaded allowing for greater retention of minerality and natural acid. The soil consists of gravelly loam over clay and is naturally high in minerals. The pristine fruit was handpicked at first light with a natural ferment beginning spontaneously. Matured in both oak and clay vessels the finished wine reveals the high mineral content of the soil with dewy slate evident on the nose, grassy tones and citrus. Lemon verbena imbues the palate alongside honeysuckle and white florals with an oyster shell minerality and fine acid backbone ensuring the cellaring potential of this wine. Windows Estate
  • ABOUT THE PRODUCER:  Viticulturist Chris Davies single-handedly planted most of what is now Windows Estate in 1996, when he was 19. The farm lies on the border of the Margaret River subregions of Yallingup and Wilyabrup with seven hectares of vines planted across three blocks at about 100 metres on soils of primarily ancient laterite, clay and granite. Chris has worked the vineyard on his own from day one, hand-pruning every vine himself and only enlisting help when it's time to pick. The vines are dry-grown, and the estate is certified organic. Minimalist winemaking seeks to honour the site and painstaking, personal nature of the farming. Chris and his wife, Jo, produce varietal Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Syrah, as well as Bordeaux blends.
