- TASTING NOTE: “There’s a kiss of the Western Australian sun here, shaped by a warm, dry, growing season. Expressive and inviting aromas of lemon confit, orange blossoms, honeysuckle, baking spices, yellow apples and white flowers. The midweight palate has a high-tension mouthfeel and real depth of flavor, leading into a powerful yet restrained finish. Already approachable yet with plenty of aging potential.” 96 Points - Ryan Montgomery, James Suckling
- ABOUT THE WINE: This complex Chardonnay combines power with restraint and elegance. Produced from our two more mineral based sites, Violette’s and Lucas’ blocks four clones of Chardonnay have been planted to bring complex layers and interest from the vineyard and capture the site. The fruit’s integrity has remained intact with subtle secondary notes of poached pear and flint merely complementing the vibrant aromas of white nectarine, grapefruit and curry leaf. On the palate this wine leaves no doubt of its intentions – it is intense and textural, yet fresh and lively, finding the perfect balance between richness and finesse. Its fine acid backbone carries the exotic stone fruit, poached pear cashew and crème brûlée characters to an exceptionally long finish, showcasing the wines purity. A moreish and sophisticated Chardonnay, which is just an infant at this stage and will generously reward even short-term cellaring. Windows Estate

ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Viticulturist Chris Davies single-handedly planted most of what is now Windows Estate in 1996, when he was 19. The farm lies on the border of the Margaret River subregions of Yallingup and Wilyabrup with seven hectares of vines planted across three blocks at about 100 metres on soils of primarily ancient laterite, clay and granite. Chris has worked the vineyard on his own from day one, hand-pruning every vine himself and only enlisting help when it's time to pick. The vines are dry-grown, and the estate is certified organic. Minimalist winemaking seeks to honour the site and painstaking, personal nature of the farming. Chris and his wife, Jo, produce varietal Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Syrah, as well as Bordeaux blends.
