West Cape Howe 'Old School' Chardonnay 2024

TASTING NOTE: Aromas of honey on toast, Anzac biscuits and granola with toasted almonds along with the peachy stone fruit and vanilla creme brulee.
This Chardonnay is soft rich and toasty with no sharp edges like silky smooth velvet giving a lovely weight and creamy texture of vanilla bean custard with peaches and white nectarine. Enjoy now with any meal or cellar for a while to allow it to develop more buttery notes and some bottle age complexity. West Cape Howe

ABOUT THE WINE: The Old School Chardonnay is from specific blocks from the Langton & Karri Oak vineyards in Mt Barker. This fruit is picked a little later than the Styx Gully Chardonnay to produce a slightly fuller style of Chardonnay.
The 2024 vintage was the warmest in several years, requiring careful monitoring to ensure the perfect balance of fruit and acidity at vintage. To enhance richness and soften the palate, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation. Extended contact with yeast lees for ten months post fermentation added weight and creaminess, seamlessly integrating vibrant peach and melon flavours with subtle oak nuances. West Cape Howe

ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Founded in 1997 and owned by four Western Australian families, West Cape Howe has become one of Western Australia’s favourite wine brands. The Langton vineyard was established in 1978 and has some of the most mature vines in the Great Southern, consistently producing the highest quality fruit. In recent years, West Cape Howe acquired neighbouring vineyards in Mt Barker and has significant vineyard resources in Frankland. With a reliable climate, these vineyards have contributed to the consistent quality of West Cape Howe’s wines.
