- TASTING NOTE: A bright modern expression of Grenache. Raspberry and dark cherry fruits. A mix of floral and earthy tones along with dried herb. Good depth and yet poised and delicate with fine and long tannins giving the wine shape and carry.
- ABOUT THE WINE: Fruit is sourced form 65+ year old bush vines planted at the base of the darling scarp in soil consisting of gravel and sand over coffee rock. Picked early to capture the brightness of the varietal it is naturally fermented with some whole bunch and extended maceration. Matured in old oak with only the best barrels going into Pezzonovante. Minimal sulphur, unfined and unfiltered.
-
ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Owners Garth Cliff and Kristen McGann started Vino Volta to showcase vineyards and varietals (particularly Chenin Blanc and Grenache) in the Swan Valley that had largely been left by the wayside in the Western Australian wine making scene . They love to play and experiment, producing expressive, quaffable medium bodied wines in small batches.
