- TASTING NOTE: "The 2022 Blanco Selvanevada is 91% Viura, 6% Tempranillo Blanco and 3% Garnacha Blanca sourced from a vineyard planted in 1975 in Laserna, Laguardia, Rioja Alavesa on the Ebro riverbank. It underwent a five-month aging process in barrels, primarily French (95%) with a touch of Hungarian (5%). Displaying a yellow hue, the lime and green apple aromas also feature faint hints of hazelnut. Creamy and refreshing on the palate, the chalky mouthfeel leads to a subtly compact flow. ABOUT THE WINE: The grapes are gently pressed, with a small pre-fermentative maceration to increase the aromas. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Aged 4 months in French oak barrels. Weekly batônnage of the lees. Selvanevada, in its white and red versions, represents the most open, cheerful and fresh expression of a welcoming wine —a reminder of the traditional wine we have always shared at home. ABOUT THE PRODUCER: A unique estate on a meander of the Ebro River in Rioja Alavesa. A diverse vineyard, cultivated by the Pérez Villota family since 1930. A collection of wines made with one essential motivation: to share the moment. An extensive vineyard of bush-trained vines, most of them planted over half a century ago. The image of tradition, the mark of Rioja’s ancestral viticulture, and the legacy of a family history spanning almost a century —a history which, with its fourth generation, now looks to the future to spread the pleasure of wine. The estate is now led by Carmen Pérez Garrigues, representing the fourth generation of a family of vinegrowers in the San Rafael meander. Since 2014, Villota has been producing wine using an exceptional resource: native white and red Rioja grape varieties grown entirely on the estate.
