- TASTING NOTE: "The 2023 Vermentino Perlato del Bosco is bright, vibrant and finely cut. Citrus and floral notes abound in this steely coastal white. Bracing minerality extends the saline finish. Drink it over the next year or two." 90 Points - Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com
- ABOUT THE WINE: It is made from the vineyards that are closer to the sea. This proximity carries mineral character to the wine respecting the varietal notes. Vinified in stainless steel.
- ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Tua Rita makes some of Italy’s most exciting and collectable red wines. Its story began in 1984, when Virgilio Bisti and his wife Rita Tua purchased a small two-hectare property in Suvereto in the Alta Maremma, with just half a hectare of Sangiovese. In the beginning, their dream was simply to have a more rural life close to the land, but soon a passion for wine took over. In 1988 two more hectares were added, planted – against the local trend – with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon which they felt suited the site, and some of which found its way into nearby Tenuta San Guido’s Sassicaia. In 1992, Virgilio and Rita took on one of Italy’s best consultant oenologists, Luca D’Attoma, and started bottling their own wine, the first of which they called Giusto di Notri. 1994 saw the first vintage of Redigaffi, a 100% Merlot, but it was when Robert Parker awarded 100 points to the 2000 vintage that Tua Rita really came to the attention of the wine world: Redigaffi became the first Italian wine to receive a perfect score from the American wine critic. Since Virgilio’s death in 2010, daughter Simena and her husband Stefano Frascolla have been running the estate, more recently with the help of their son Giovanni, now a trained oenologist. The organically farmed Tua Rita estate has now expanded to 57ha of vines. In addition to the original Bordeaux varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot) you can find Syrah and some Sangiovese, plus Vermentino, Traminer, Riesling, and more recently Ansonica.
