- TASTING NOTE: "The whole-bunch element is quite marked on the nose currently, and there's good fresh fruit too. Powerful on the palate, this has good intensity and drive, and the whole bunches are quite marked texturally as well. Good length and freshness, with fleshy fruit and a robust, tannic frame. A little more rustic than some Hermitage, but with age this will be very good. Grown on lieux-dits Les Bessards and Les Plantiers." 95 Points - Matt Walls, Decanter
-
ABOUT THE WINE: Syrah, 80% from Les Plantiers, planted in 1970, 20% from Les Bessards and Les Greffieux, both planted in the late 1980s, 2 week vinification, cap punched, aged in 1-6 year 225 & 228-litre oak casks for 16-20 months, unfined and unfiltered.
- ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Marc Sorrel took over the Sorrel Domaine from his father in 1982. While he was thrown headfirst into the deep end after his father’s death Marc has managed to create a brand that can consider itself to be an outstanding producer of refined, traditional Hermitage wines. Marc is a fierce traditionalist, and his philosophy is non-interventionist, which is reflected in his full, well-structured, and long lived wines. Importer notes
