  • TASTING NOTE: The 2024 Chardonnay Family Reserve from a single vineyard is beautifully composed in a cerebral style. It offers complex layers of pear and crab apple with a strong savory note of French nougat and toasted oats. The palate is well defined, with savory tones accented by caramel-scented oak and punchy acidity. The overall intent is good, but this wine needs some years to settle. (Drink between 2028-2034) 94 Points - Angus Hughston, Vinous
  • ABOUT THE WINE: The fruit  was chilled overnight, then whole bunch pressed and fermented with a third of the juice going to new oak, and the remainder to one year old French oak barriques from the Marsannay, Tonnellerie Quintessence, Louis Latour and D&J cooperages. The wine spent eight months in oak with a partial malolactic fermentation to develop mouth feel and richness. Lees stirring (bâtonnage) occurred at weekly intervals during the first five months in barrel. The wine was then left to rest before preparation for bottling. After bottling, it was again rested to allow for further integration in bottle before release.
  • ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Based near Denmark, Singlefile is a family owned winery, co-founded by Phil and Viv Snowden and their daughter Pam and her husband Patrick Corbett. Singlefile aims to showcase the best of the five diverse sub-regions of the Great Southern in Western Australia. This prolific producer produces a broad range of wines from across the region but specialises in Chardonnay with the home vineyard producing some of Australia's best examples of the varietal. The estate is named for the geese that patrol the home vineyard, waddling around in singlefile.
