ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Shepherd’s Hut, owned by the Wishart family, takes its name from a honey-coloured stone hut located within the vineyard. Originally built in the 1850s from locally quarried stone, the hut housed shepherds while their sheep grazed along the Kalgan River. Over time, the hut slowly fell into disrepair and when the Wishart family purchased the property it had collapsed and was overgrown. The family recovered the original stone blocks and rebuilt the hut in keeping with its heritage. It now houses the third generation, Laura Wishart, and accommodates a cosy cellar door. The Hut overlooks their Riesling block and out to the Porongurup and Stirling Ranges. Each year, under the guidance of her neighbour – renowned winemaker, Rob Diletti – Laura selects a small portion of their best fruit for the family's label.
