  • TASTING NOTE: "The 2022 Weisser Burgunder grows on the southwest-facing extension of Stromberg in the valley on rhyolite. The vines by now are 20 years old. The nose is of merely subtle, barely-there fruit, with a gentle creaminess and a slight savoriness. The palate is just as stony, almost severe, with a lovely, slender texture. About a third was fermented and aged in tonneaux, the rest in stainless steel." Anne Krebichl MW, Vinous.com
  • ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Tim Fröhlich took over the family estate from his parents in 1995 and implemented strict regimes to improve quality levels, both in the vineyard and winery, that has seen the estate rise meteorically in the years since. Today it is considered one of the best wineries in Germany.

The family's wine history goes back more than 200 years to 1800, when the Fröhlichs first produced wine. Tim's parents Karin and Hans Fröhlich took over the winery in the early 1970s. Riesling is the dominant variety of the estate with about 85% of area under vine and Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir together accounting for the rest. The wineries best vineyards are found in Felseneck in Bockenheim, plus Stromberg, Felsenberg and Kupfergrube in Schlossböckelheim as well as Halenberg and Frühlingsplätzchen in Monzingen.
