  • TASTING NOTE: "The 2018 Barolo Pira is bright, focused and linear. A bit light and nervy, as wines are in this vintage, but also expressive. Tobacco, cedar, mint, dried flowers and chamomile all grace this taut, nervy Barolo Pira. This is an especially ethereal Barolo. Very pretty, and it has plenty of drive. (Drink between 2025-2038)94 Points - Antonio Galloni, Vinous
  • ABOUT THE WINE: Pira is a historic vineyard in Castiglione Falletto, the village closest to the centre of the Barolo production zone. It is the perfect habitat for our concept of viticulture, respectful of the life of the soils. The plot is protected uphill by the Rocche di Castiglione Falletto and downhill by a small forest.
The vines used to make this wine are over 25 years old. The vines are exclusively of massal origin, with wood obtained during the pruning of the old vines in this vineyard.
  • ABOUT THE PRODUCER: For more than 150 years, the Roagna Winery has been a shining example of quality, traditional-style winemaking in the Barbaresco commune in the beautiful wine region of Piedmont. The tiny winery is located in the hamlet of Barbaresco itself, near Gaja, Bruno Rocca, and the Michelin-starred Antinè restaurant. Long famed for its potent, expressive Barbarescos and Barolos, which in characteristic Barbaresco style can often age for decades, Roagna is one of the old guards of producers, making modern and balanced versions of full, tannic wines that marked this region for so much of the 20th century.
