  • TASTING NOTE: Opens with a glorious perfume of fresh red fruit, vibrant florals and hints of pink pepper, leading to a seamless palate layered with perfectly pitched acidity, mineral tang and beautifully integrated powdery tannins. It finishes with a striking fan of flavour and, while you still get freshness, you’re also getting depth and length.
  • ABOUT THE WINE: The Poncié cuvée is drawn from a beautiful 4.5-hectare site of 45-year-old vines on pink granite soils. It’s Chermette’s most seductive and graceful Cru bottling, especially when young. Poncié is one of a handful of celebrated highland terroirs along the ridge situated high above the village (Roche Guillon is another). The winemaking is traditional, with natural, whole-bunch ferments in large concrete vats and aging in large old foudres.
  • ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Formerly known as Domaine du Vizzoux, the estate now takes the name of the family who has grown it into one of the finest producers in Beaujolais. Owners Pierre-Marie and Martine Chermette were among the first in Beaujolais to use sustainable agricultural practices, shunning the use of any chemicals in the vineyard and encouraging as much life in the soil as possible. The wines are made with minimal intervention: wild yeasts, minimal sulphur additions and no filtering if possible. Ageing is in traditional up-to-the-ceiling, neutral oak casks. Bibendum
