TASTING NOTE: "Scavino's 2023 Langhe Nebbiolo is laced with hints of kirsch, orange zest, white pepper, mint and dried herbs. Its striking inner perfume and fine balance make it a terrific choice for everyday drinking." 90 Points - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
- ABOUT THE WINE: To achieve an immediately approachable version of Nebbiolo, the Scavino family draws on east-facing parcels on sandy soil in the village of La Morra. Maceration lasts just five days and ageing in neutral barrels has been reduced to eight months.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Paolo Scavino is an historical winery in the Barolo region. It was founded in 1921 in Castiglione Falletto by Lorenzo Scavino and his son Paolo. Farming has always been a family tradition and passion. Enrico Scavino together with the daughters Enrica and Elisa, (representing the fourth generation) run the family Estate today. Enrico started to work full time in the winery in 1951 when he was just 10 years old. Enrico straddles the modernist/traditionalist styles of Barolo, utilising native yeasts and favouring shorter macerations, but only using neutral barriques for the initial ageing period (10 months -to set colour) before transferring his wines to old large format oak for 12 months. Quality control is crucial. Scavino could make more wine—but the estate chooses to sell off from 10-30% of the production in bulk to maintain their super high standards. This small family farm—which essentially started with 5.5 hectares—now manages 29 hectares of vineyards, and regularly finds itself classified amongst the other top estates of the region.
