Okonomierat Rebholz 'Im Sonnenschein' Riesling GG 2022

- TASTING NOTE: "The 2022 Riesling Siebeldinger Im Sonnenschein Grosses Gewächs is still reduced on the nose, yet an echo of distant fruit shines through. The palate is zesty, cooling and soothing, with the finest, bright freshness, yet totally buffered and juicy, again with that salty-mouthwatering vibe. This is so well-captured, so pure and serene. The slender, zesty, bright finish is key. This is from parcels with a little more loam in the lower reaches. (Bone-dry)." 96 Points - Anne Krebiehl, Vinous
- ABOUT THE WINE: The soils of the Im Sonnenschein (In The Sunshine) vineyard are predominantly shell limestone, providing the ideal conditions for great Burgundy wines and Rieslings! The soil gives the wines a wonderful fullness and fine minerality, with beautifully integrated acidity.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER: The Rebholz family has been involved in winemaking since the 16th century, and has owned the estate in Siebeldingen for over a century. In 2002, Gault Millau bestowed the title of German "Winemaker of the Year" upon the estate, which has pioneered quality wine production in the southern Pfalz and is now regularly one of the top producers of dry Riesling in all of Germany. The family name--Rebholz--translates to "vine wood," and the government bestowed the title of honorary title of "Ökonomierat" (agricultural counselor) upon Eduard Rebholz (1889-1966), grandfather of Hansjörg Rebholz, the estate's current manager. Rebholz has long championed naturwein in Germany, and produces wines without chaptalization or the addition of süssreserve (unfermented grape juice). The estate is certified organic, and vineyards are farmed biodynamically. VDP member.
