- ABOUT THE WINE: Lonicera is the genus name for honeysuckle (and who among us did not know that), and Coonawarra is the local indigenous name for honeysuckle. The wine has been made in a soft, fresh and flavoursome style. There are notes of tobacco leaves, warm earth, plums and dry herbs. A slightly lighter and softer red than many we see these days, making it an ideal early drinker. Also perfect for those who simply can’t bring themselves to drink white over summer – yes, those people do exist! This exhibits mid-length, and it is fresh and oozing flavour. Terrific now and for at least two to three years.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Leconfield Coonawarra embraces the essence of the famous South Australian wine region by creating rich, elegant and sensual wines. Leconfield is famous for its Cabernet Sauvignon which is the flagship of the brand. Over the last two decades, and further reinforced through recent show success, the Riesling vines selected and planted by Sydney Hamilton in 1974 have yielded wines that have become benchmarks of the variety within the Coonawarra region. With a passion for Merlot, Paul Gordon's expert winemaking has seen the Leconfield Coonawarra Merlot become one of the best wines of the variety produced in Australia. Halliday
