  • TASTING NOTE: The nose reveals aromas of black fruits, black cherry, plum, and spices. The terroir is evident in the charcoal and smoky, mineral notes. The nose remains precise and accurate; the fruit retains its appealing character. The palate offers good chewiness and density. The structure is square and compact at the moment. However, this texture is well enveloped by a pleasant richness. The tannins are more prominent without being austere. Chateau de La Chaize
  • ABOUT THE WINE: Facing South-East on shallow granite soil the lieu-dit Combiliaty is one of the largest terroirs in the Brouilly appellation. Vinification by plot (100% Gamay Noir), 10% whole cluster fermentation, indigenous yeast fermentation.  Maceration for 11 days in stainless steel tanks. Pump-overs and racking. No punch-downs. Sulfured after malolactic fermentation and at bottling. Aging: 7 months in large oak casks. Chateau de La Chaize
  • ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Château de La Chaize is among the oldest, most historic estates in Burgundy’s Beaujolais region. It was completed in 1676. The project was financed by Louis XIV's personal chaplain, François de la Chaise, "and his grateful nephew, the original owner, named the chateau for his munificent uncle." The architect was Jules Hardouin-Mansart, and André Le Nôtre designed the gardens. It has been listed as an official historical monument since April 27, 1972. Cared for by the same Family for nearly three and a half centuries, the estate has been passed on to new owners, the Gruy Family, who are equally committed to managing the estate with the utmost care, while implementing an ambitious environmental plan. Today it is the largest wine estate in Beaujolais and Southern Burgundy, covering 450 hectares, including 106 hectares of vineyards. Among the many initiatives is the conversion of all vineyards to organic farming, the adoption of precision viticulture, reducing their carbon footprint, and recycling every by-product from viti- and vinicultural activity, to achieve zero waste.
