- TASTING NOTE: The nose is fragrant with intense black fruits, bay leaf and a hint of violets. Medium to full-bodied and awash with juicy blackcurrant pastille and dark fruit characters. Fresh, balanced acidity with ripe, fine tannins and a persistent, satisfying finish.
- ABOUT THE WINE: The fruit was sourced from the estates Wilyabrup and Karridale vineyards, both of which are sustainably farmed following organic practices. Cabernet Sauvignon (81.6%), Merlot (10.5%), Shiraz (4.7%), Malbec (1.5%), Petit Verdot (1.3%) & Cabernet Franc (0.4%). All the varieties were fermented separately in a mix of open and closed fermenters, and spent between 8 to 21 days on skins. Further aging in oak in separate batches took place until blending. Aged for a minimum of 12 months in barrel (12% new French).
- ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Juniper Estate is one of the oldest vineyards in the Margaret River Region with Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon vines planted in 1973. The dry-grown vineyard is planted on the Wilyabrup gravely loam which has produced so many of the Margaret River wines which now command Australia-wide and International recognition. Acclaimed winemaker and Margaret River veteran, Mark Messenger has built a reputation for producing quality, award-winning wines with depth and polish. The Juniper Crossing sub-label sources fruit from around Margaret River to produce approachable, top value wines.
