- TASTING NOTE: "Grenache, graciano, touriga and mataro. A medium-weighted deal, though big on florals, all powdery rose, duskily scented, and violets, iris, some North African spices filtering in. Pale, dark fruits, wild raspberry, Bing cherry, fresh blueberry, a hint of red apple. There’s a twang of natural freshness here, a vibrancy that allies keenly with the brightness of fruit, but there’s never any confection at this address, rather a compact between savoury, food-apt structure and that energetic, fruitful palate intro. ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Inspired by the eponymous essay on Japanese aesthetics by Jun'ichirō Tanizaki, In Praise of Shadows wines are about an immediacy, pleasure and the embrace of what lies in front of our eyes, rather than that which has fallen to the wayside of the past. In essence, Ikigai, or our reason for being. The wines, fine-boned, energetic and floral, are Mediterranean-accented, befitting McLaren Vale and the elevated reaches of Blewitt Springs and Clarendon, from whence much of the fruit is sourced.
