  • TASTING NOTE:  "Redcurrant, cherry and olive-leaf aromas follow through to a medium body with very fine, caressing tannins and a long, juicy finish. Lightly crunchy and chewy. Extremely well crafted and delicious already, but better in a couple of years. Drink or hold." 95 Points - James Suckling
  • ABOUT THE WINE: Fruit is sourced from both the terre brune and terre bianche soils of the Ca'Marcanda estate. Produced from Cabernet Franc 60%, Cabernet Sauvignon 30%, Petit Verdot 10%, the three varieties ferment and macerate separately for around 15 days. After 12-18 months of ageing in oak, they are blended and then aged for several months in bottle before release.
  • ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Ca'Marcanda is the Gaja family's outpost in Bolgheri, Tuscany. There was no land under vine when Angelo Gaja purchased the land in 1996 and wanting to challenge himself further with the Bordeaux varieties, he planted Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot as well as some Syrah and Sangiovese. The estate’s vineyards are composed of two different soil types: the ‘terre brune’ is a dark soil made up of lime and clay, while the ‘terre bianche’ is stonier and features limestone and clay. The terre brune produces fruity, easy drinking wines, while the terre bianche produces wines with more structure and ageing potential. The estate is certified organic.
