  • TASTING NOTE: "This is delicious. It's sweet fruited but has this sense of herbal complexity, red earthy savouriness, fine cinnamon and clove spice, green olive in brine saltiness and greenery. The tannins are so very fine, elegant, sleek and keep the wine compact and refreshing. Medium weight, just, and perfectly so. Beautifully, tightly wound, with supreme length and a sense of finesse. Glorious red wine." 96 Points - Mike Bennie, Halliday Wine Companion
  • ABOUT THE WINE:  Block 7 Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), planted 1975 (Houghton Clone). Block 2 Malbec (35%) planted 2004. Hand-picked. Chilled, hand sorted at the winery and destemmed into small open fermenters including 600L demi muids. The fermenters were hand plunged depending on taste and ferment stage. The wine was then pressed to French oak hogsheads (~25% new) once primary was complete for its Malo- lactic fermentation. The wine was blended and bottled after 12 months maturation.
  • ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Forest Hill Vineyard has a unique place in the history of Western Australia’s wine industry, being the first cool climate vineyard planted in the state in 1965 as an experiment by the Western Australian Department of Agriculture. The original vineyard was planted with Riesling and Cabernet cuttings sourced from the Houghton's property in the Swan Valley. The property was purchased by the Lyons family in 1996 who embarked on a program to rejuvenate the old vineyards and plant appropriate new ones.
