- TASTING NOTE: "It feels like this pocket of Mount Barker does well with this variety. Very well. Bold scents of cassis, lavender, bay leaf and sea spray with well-judged clove and cinnamon spice. Refreshing and succulent to taste, spot-on medium weight, though the levity and vitality make it feel prettier than that. Dark fruit flavours but lots of herb and spice too, tannins in tow are ultrafine and, again, mineral-charged, all pulverised stone and talc. This has great mojo and feels as fancy as it is highly drinkable. What excitement!" 95 Points - Mike Bennie, Halliday Wine Companion
- ABOUT THE WINE: The 2022 vintage is a fantastic year which is characterised by exceptional detail and perfume with fleshy fruit, lots of fine ripe tannin and length. Hand-picked from our oldest and most exceptional parcels of dry-grown cabernet, the Block 5 was fermented in small parcels including concrete tank and matured in French oak hogshead barrels.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Forest Hill Vineyard has a unique place in the history of Western Australia’s wine industry, being the first cool climate vineyard planted in the state in 1965 as an experiment by the Western Australian Department of Agriculture. The original vineyard was planted with Riesling and Cabernet cuttings sourced from the Houghton's property in the Swan Valley. The property was purchased by the Lyons family in 1996 who embarked on a program to rejuvenate the old vineyards and plant appropriate new ones.
