- TASTING NOTE: "A fine-boned and savoury mixture of cedar, dark fruits, lavender and ironstone; the palate is medium-bodied, lively and made in an elegant framework." 90 points - James Halliday 2012
- ABOUT THE WINE: Established in 1965, Forest Hill is Western Australia's oldest cool-climate vineyard. Block 5 is produced from select parcels from the oldest vines - dry grown and cane pruned. Our old vines which include the original 1965 plantings, are very special to Forest Hill and are treated with a great deal of respect. The nature of old vines necessitates special treatment in viticultural management ensuring hand harvesting and pruning. These gnarly old vines are deep rooted and characterized by lower vigour and yields with smaller berries and intense flavours. Forest Hill
- ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Forest Hill Vineyard has a unique place in the history of Western Australia’s wine industry, being the first cool climate vineyard planted in the state in 1965 as an experiment by the Western Australian Department of Agriculture. The original vineyard was planted with Riesling and Cabernet cuttings sourced from the Houghton's property in the Swan Valley. The property was purchased by the Lyons family in 1996 who embarked on a program to rejuvenate the old vineyards and plant appropriate new ones.
