  • TASTING NOTE: "This wine comes from a single plot, planted in 1975 and dry grown. Big perfume of jasmine, chamomile, grapefruit and lime. Flavours rolling out similarly with quite a good crunch of Granny Smith apple in there, too. A juiciness to texture, a steel rod of acidity thrust through. Feels bell ring clear. Lively expression of riesling with good depth and detail of fruit, spice and minerally acidity. Kudos. From vines planted in '75. Spends time in stainless steel and Austrian oak barrels, on lees solids. Lively, vibrant white wine of tart citrus fruit character, red apple, tonic water and green mango, with saline minerality between the bouquet and palate. Very fresh feeling to taste, glass shard edges with juicy core, a little blackcurrant and leafy herbal notes on the finish. A subtle savouriness, shortbread and green almond in play. There's so much going on here, in a compact frame, with such high drinkability. Super stuff." 95 Points - Mike Bennie, Halliday Wine Companion 2023
  • ABOUT THE WINE: The Block 2 Riesling is a single vineyard wine from dry grown vines planted in 1975. Our old vines which include the original plantings, are very special to Forest Hill and are treated with a great deal of respect. The nature of old vines necessitates special treatment in viticultural management ensuring hand harvesting and pruning. These gnarly old vines are deep rooted and characterized by lower vigour and yields with smaller berries and intense flavours. Forest Hill
  • ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Forest Hill Vineyard has a unique place in the history of Western Australia’s wine industry, being the first cool climate vineyard planted in the state in 1965 as an experiment by the Western Australian Department of Agriculture. The original vineyard was planted with Riesling and Cabernet cuttings sourced from the Houghton's property in the Swan Valley. The property was purchased by the Lyons family in 1996 who embarked on a program to rejuvenate the old vineyards and plant appropriate new ones.
