- TASTING NOTE: A blend of fresh aromatic whites, with notes of citrus blossom, dusky rose petal, and pear skin, set in a texturally rich palate that finishes savoury, chalky and mineral.
- ABOUT THE WINE: All varieties were allowed to ripen to an extent where they express the full array of ripe flavours. After the hand harvest, the variety is gently pressed to extract juice for fermentation in 600lt demi muid oak and 400 lt ceramic eggs. Some intact bunches are added to the Gewurztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc egg ferments to infuse wild berry skin and green mango skin notes into the developing wines. Each variety remains in the same vessels for ten months, with occasional stirring to suspend yeast lees, build texture, and freshen the maturing wine.
- ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Flowstone is named for the famous limestone caves of the region, in particular Lake Cave, with was originally known as Queen Of The Earth. The winery is a partnership between long-time Margaret River winemakers Stuart Pym and Janice McDonald, who were the founders of Suckfizzle and Stella Bella wines in the 1990's. At Flowstone, there’s no rush and no shortcuts – just care, curiosity, and a deep respect for the craft. Each wine is made on the small estate and released only when it’s ready, capturing the individuality of the region and their own unique take on it as winemakers. The centre piece of their projects is the Flowstone vineyard in the Forest Grove area, 17 km south of Margaret River, where they cultivate Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Touriga, and Gewurztraminer.
