- TASTING NOTE: "While just bottled the week prior to this tasting, the 2019 Chateauneuf Du Pape Vieilles Vignes wasn’t showing any worse for it and offered a beautiful perfume of blackberries, raspberries, ground pepper, and garrigue. The purity of fruit is spot on, it’s medium to full-bodied, has a balanced texture, and a great finish." 93 Points - Jeb Dunnuck (March 2021)

ABOUT THE WINE: The domaine's old vines located in the north of the appellation reflect the soul of the Prieure des Papes wines, made from mainly Grenache, with Syrah and Mourvedre from 50-years-old vines grown on the sandy soils in the northern part of the appellation. Grapes are partially destemmed and vinified in a combination of concrete and wooden tanks, and 600L wooden barrels in which the wine matures for about a year and a half.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER: The name, Le Prieuré des Papes, comes in reference to the Priory of the Popes building located at the foot of the castle village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and forming part of the estate. Located in the northern part of Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the Cabrières district, the estate vineyards are grown on sandy soil over a limestone subsoil. The vineyards are north facing, which brings a lot of freshness to the wines. They produce three red Châteauneuf-du-Pape, two of them being single vineyards, one white Châteuneuf-du-Pape and one red Côtes du Rhône. These are pure fruited wines, with minerality and no new oak Importer notes
