- TASTING NOTE: "Lafon's 2023 Meursault Charmes is an instant classic, with aromas of ripe apple and hazelnut accented with a bit of smoky reduction and buttery depth. The texture is rich yet lively, and the wine lingers persistently on the palate. It is produced from very old vines from 60-95 years old that are located at the southern end of Charmes Dessus, bordered by Perrières and Puligny-Combottes. The youngest vines are declassified, and the grapes are pressed as whole clusters before fermenting and ageing in cask (25% new) over two winters." 95 Points - Charles Curtis MW, Decanter, May 2024 Drink: 2030 - 2050

ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Domaine des Comtes Lafon has been in the Lafon family since 1865. Dominique Lafon took over the domaine in 1985. It is comprised of approximately 14 hectares situated in the communes of Volnay, Monthélie, Chassagne-Montrachet, and of course, Meursault, where the domaine and its monopole vineyard Clos de la Barre are located. All the vineyards are cultivated biodynamically and they proudly own every Premier Cru in Meursault. Dominique retired at the end of 2021, handing over the reigns to his daughter, Léa and nephew, Pierre, who as part of the fifth generation of winemakers in the Lafon family, will continue this domaine’s superstar reputation not only in Burgundy but throughout the world.
