Crittenden 'Peninsula' Pinot Noir 2024
Couldn't load pickup availability
- TASTING NOTE: "A decent go-to pinot offering easy-drinking appeal. Yet this has a certain level of detail, too. It's tangy, juicy and raspberry-accented, with rhubarb and some red/morello cherries and a strong sappy/wintergreen character. The palate is light and bright, with sinewy tannins yet crisp acidity to close." 89 Points - Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion
- ABOUT THE WINE: True to its name, The Peninsula range of wines represents the Crittenden family’s dedication to over 40 years of viticulture and winemaking in this cool maritime region. Parcels of grapes have been selected from various vineyards across the Mornington Peninsula to produce vibrant and aromatic wines which truly reflect their ideal climatic origins. Crittenden

ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Garry Crittenden was a pioneer on the Mornington Peninsula, establishing the family vineyard over almost 40 years and introducing a number of avant-garde pruning and canopy management techniques. Much has changed – and continues to change – in cool-climate vineyard management. Crittenden has abandoned the use of synthetic fertilisers in the vineyard, focusing on biological soil health using natural tools such as compost and cover crops. Pinot noir and chardonnay remain the principal focus at the top tier, but they also produce some remarkable savagnin made under flor in the Jura style. In '15, winemaking returned to the family vineyard on the Mornington Peninsula in a newly built facility, with son Rollo in charge of the winemaking and general management and daughter Zoe overseeing marketing.
