  • TASTING NOTE: "Firm, peppery and well-structured, this is an excellent expression of the volcanic Cote-de-Brouilly terroir. And once you’ve taken that in, you pick up on the juiciness of the medium-bodied palate with black and blue berry fruit. Animating acidity in the long, structured finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold." 93 Points - James Suckling
  • ABOUT THE WINE: A blend of seven plots from the volcanic soils of the slopes of Mount Brouilly; Clos Bertrand, La Chapelle, Les Griottes, Godefroy, L’Héronde, Henri, and Les Fournelles. After hand picking, plots are vinified separately. Vinification is very traditional, with partial whole bunch fermentation and ageing in old large format oak for seven months.
  • ABOUT THE PRODUCER:  The site now occupied by Chateau Thivin was originally planted by the Romans, and is one of the oldest cellars in Beaujolais. The Geoffray family have been it's owners since 1877 and today the 5th and 6th generations run this small family business. Respect for the land and traditions of the region are of the utmost importance of the Geoffrays. Vineyard practices are organic; natural grassing, planting flower strips, eco-grazing by sheep, light tilling beneath the vines, together with the regular addition of compost and natural products to stimulate the vine’s defences. Work in the cellar is very old world with classic Beaujolais fermentation with whole clusters and mostly old large format oak used for ageing.
