  • TASTING NOTE: "Eminently accessible, the fruit highlighted on the nose and palate. Fresh peach and apricot notes. Juicy and round with adequate intensity. The refreshing finish denotes its Barsac origins." 90 Points - James Lawther MW, Decanter
  • ABOUT THE WINE: 7 passes through the vineyard were required to pick the botrytis effected berries. Composed of Semillon 75%, Sauvignon Blanc 23%, Muscadelle 2%. Barrel fermented in 50% new French oak for 18 months.
  • ABOUT THE PRODUCER: In 1787, former US President Thomas Jefferson, then ambassador to France, celebrated Chateau Coutet as the best Sauternes from Barsac. In 1855, the estate was classified as a First Growth and recognized for its continued excellence.  Today, as the oldest and largest Barsac estate, Chateau Coutet stays true to its tradition of distinction and quality.  Located between the Garonne and Ciron rivers, Château Coutet benefits from a microclimate whose autumn mists necessary for the spread of the Botrytis cinerea. The vineyard area extends 38 hectares with grape varieties of 75% Sémillon, 23% Sauvignon blanc and 2% Muscadelle.
