  • TASTING NOTE: The Fiumeseccu Rouge is pale cherry in colour. Very distinctive in style, dominated by fruity (pomegrante) aromas which evolve towards notes of pepper and spice on the finish. It is light yet with some good fruit flesh over racy acidity and fine, delicate tannins.
  • ABOUT THE WINE: The grapes are grown in 4 different parcels and the vines are aged between 10 and 30 years. Blend: 45% Niellucciu, 30% Sciacarellu, 15% Elegante (Grenache) and 10% Syrah. The grapes are fully de-stemmed and wild fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks with 8 to 12 days of maceration. The wine is bottled young and fresh.
  • ABOUT THE PRODUCER: "Located in the heart of the Balagne region in Haute-Corse, Domaine 'Alzipratu has been producing wines since 1968. Nestled between the sea and the mountains, just 8 km from Calvi and at the foot of Monte-Grossu, the vineyard covers around forty hectares and is part of the Protected Designation of Origin Corsica Calvi which was created in 1976. The property of the Acquaviva family, passed down for three generations, was initiated by Maurice Acquaviva, owner of sixteen hectares of vines in the Figarella Valley. Today, the estate extends over different terroirs located in the communes of Zilia, Calenzana and Moncale (Figarella Valley). Pierre took over the estate in 1991 and was joined by his son, Marc'Andria, in 2018. In order to best express the diversity of our grape varieties, our winery has different containers for different aging methods, such as concrete or stainless steel vats, oak or acacia barrels and terracotta jars. All year round, we put our know-how and energy into working the vines using agroecological methods to guarantee quality production. The estate is certified "Organic Agriculture", as are all the winegrowers of the Corsica-Calvi appellation.  Located at the foot of Monte-Grossu, whose highest point is 1,937 meters, and a few minutes from the shore, our vines benefit from a contrasting climatic influence between the sea and the mountains. While the Mediterranean climate guarantees heat and sun, the higher rainfall in mountainous areas brings humidity that is favorable to the development of the vine. The proximity of the sea brings the freshness specific to the marine climate, as well as numerous winds that purify the vineyard and influence the conditions for the development of the vine."
