This wine represents a mosaic of personalities, with vineyards from the eastern border of the appellation (Soria) to the western end (the Vega Sicilia estate in Valbuena de Duero). \u003cspan\u003eDuring the ageing process, in concrete, barrels and oak vats, the different sites are blended to create a harmonious Ribera. 2021 was a vintage to savour, to enjoy tasting the grapes, with their crisp, fruity skins and noble textures. The other companies would be added down through the years. Alión, whose name refers to the area of León where the patriarch of the Álvarez family was born, is located just 15 kilometres from the headquarters and in a very similar location, between the River Duero and the Valladolid to Soria highway, near to Ribera's winemaking capital, Peñafiel. Alión owns a total of 70 hectares of land. There is a great diversity of soils in Alión due to the three sedimentary environments that have shaped its landscape: fluvial, colluvial and wind. The fluvial environment is the most significant due to its extent and it is formed by the materials provided by the River Duero which has deposited alluvial over thousands of years.
