It was on the cooler side. The wines that I have seen in bottle so far, a number totaling in the many hundreds—red and white, across all styles—have been electric, poised, fresh, concentrated and attractively medium-bodied. Balance, is one of the greatest calling cards. Here, the 2023 Tom Cullity Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec is fine, chalky, fresh and layered with pomegranate, blood plum, raspberry, pink peppercorn, the classic nori, gravel, blood and rose petals too. 2023, through the lens of this wine, is utterly superb. It's succulent too, though, and chewy, almost in its shape and structure. It comprises 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Malbec, picked over four weeks from 17th March to 18th April.
