The soil of Taillepieds is poor, whitish, and rocky. It even takes its name from the fact that the winegrowers quickly wore out their shoes cultivating this stony, sharp-edged plot. Its steep slope, the thinness of the soil, and the particularly sunny exposure give the wines of Taillepieds an added finesse and elegance. \u003cspan dir=\"auto\" style=\"font-size: 0.875rem;\"\u003eThe relatively high altitude of our Taillepieds plot gives its wine a slightly more serious and reserved character, especially in its youth. It embodies elegance and precision. Taillepieds is a refined wine, somewhat more complete and powerful than Champagne or Caillerets. Guillaume d'Angerville, the sixth generation, now runs the estate, assisted by the talented François Duvivier, who joined him in 2005. Together, they converted the estate to biodynamic farming in 2009, creating graceful, balanced wines with what Guillaume describes as ‘spherical freshness’. The jewel in the crown is the fabulous Clos des Ducs vineyard.
