Our other 7.5-hectare vineyard was then planted in 1998 primarily with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay but also some small plantings of Gewurztraminer and Nebbiolo, all on a north facing slope, in Leongatha's hinterland, increasing our overall area of vines to just over 10 hectares. Our wines reflect our vines and their terroir, which is enhanced by our close planted, low cropping, old vines with only the use of natural processes and sprays, no irrigation and meticulous canopy management, culminating to produce wines of depth, length and complexity. Bass Phillip

Phillip Jones handcrafted tiny quantities of superlative pinot noir which, at its best, had no equal in Australia. Painstaking site selection, ultra-close vine spacing and the very cool climate of South Gippsland are the keys to the magic of Bass Phillip and its eerily burgundian pinots. One of Australia’s greatest small producers, it's been heading down a new path since Jones sold the assets (winery, stock and 14ha of vineyards) in May '20 to a syndicate led by Burgundian winemaker Jean-Marie Fourrier (who has known Jones for 14 years) and 2 Singaporeans who already have lucrative wine businesses. Halliday

COUNTRY: Australia

REGION: Gippsland, Victoria

VARIETAL: Pinot Noir

WINE STYLE: Red Wine

WINEMAKER: Jean-Marie Fourrier

CLASSIFICATION: Unfined & Unfiltered, Sustainable Farming, Vegan

CLOSURE: Cork

ABV%: 14%

SIZE: 750ml

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0367/1208/7597/files/Bass-Phillip-Estate-Pinot-Noir-2023-Heritage-Wine-Store-Perth-CBD-Bottleshop.jpg?v=1758272774
sandrone-valmaggiore-nebbiolo-dalba-2022
Sandrone 'Valmaggiore' Nebbiolo d'Alba 2022

TASTING NOTE: "The 2022 Nebbiolo d'Alba Valmaggiore is quite the surprise, given the challenging conditions of the year. The vineyard is extremely steep, situated on sandy soil, and is planted at a high density of 8,000 vines per hectare, allowing for competition among the vines that enhances their quality. As much whole berry as possible is retained to encourage perfume. A small portion of fermenters had frozen Viognier skins; tiny yields this year, added to the bottom.
